How to change location on Google

Chrome Browser

If you are using Google Chrome as your web browser then you can follow the steps given below to change your preferred location on Google:

  1. Open Chrome browser and press CTRL+Shift+I (this will open the developers tab


  2. Now click on the three vertical dots sc2.png on the top right corner of the screen
  3. Go to More tools, then select Sensors


  4. This will open the Sensors tab at the bottom of the page, you will see a Geolocation section along with a drop-down


  5. Click on the drop-down to select a custom location using the coordinates or choose one of the pre-defined locations or presets



  6. You are now ready to search on Google!

Firefox Browser

If you are using Mozilla Firefox as your web browser, then you can follow the steps given below to change your preferred location on Google:

There is a browser extension called Geolocater which can be used to change your Google location. You must install this add-on on Firefox and restart the browser to start using it.

Note: - Geolocater 1.5 has been developed to be used with Firefox 9 and +. If you use older Firefox version than 9 you have to install Geolocater V1.2 and don't update it.

  1. Open Firefox and go to Tools (If the browser menu doesn't display, click Alt.)


  2. Now from the drop-down menu select Geolocater and then click Manage


  3. You must add a new location and enter the name in the box on the right


  4. Click the button that looks like a kite with a check mark to save the location

Location Is Disabled – But You Can Still Be Tracked

Even though you have faked your location but you can still be tracked. Your IP address can still reveal where you are located. Just be aware that unless you use a VPN service, your location can still be tracked based on that information.
