What is a VPN and why do I need one?

What is VPN?

VPN (Virtual Private Network) is a network designed to provide a secure, encrypted tunnel which transmits the data between the remote user and the organization’s network. A VPN is, therefore, a network within a network.

SaferVPN has an encoded tunnel built between your computer and a SaferVPN server, through a software, which cannot be intercepted. If you activate your SaferVPN client, all your Internet operations, from surfing to message editing to download manager, are carried out. Through SaferVPN you have an invisible cable that directly connects your computer to the SaferVPN server. You send the data at one end and we receive it at the other end.

When the connection between you and SaferVPN is established, the NAT (NAT = Network Address Translation) functions are activated. Through these, your connections are assigned with a new IP address that doesn't allow the original sender to be identified.

There is one disadvantage as well the higher the number of users connected to a single server, for whom the server must ensure anonymity, the more it affects the data transfer speed for all of them. This overload is also the reason why public proxy servers can be so slow. On the other hand, the premium SaferVPN servers have a minimum guaranteed speed, which means that, if a server reaches a certain degree of demand, other servers are activated to distribute the tasks that have to be processed.

Why do I need one?

  1. When you want extra Digital Security: VPN provides extra security and encryption when you are transferring your personal data.
  2. When you log Onto Public Wi-Fi: Public Wi-Fi hotspots are famous hangouts for That’s because these hotspots are generally have very weak security. Using a VPN will add the security to these hotspots as they provide encrypting to your connection.
  3. Using online Cloud Storage: Online storage solutions like Dropbox, and Google Drive do a decent amount of work securing your files on their servers. Using SaferVPN adds extra encryption to your cloud storage upload and downloads.
  4. When you play online games: When you play a lot of online games, VPN create a direct and secure connection between you and your friends.
  5. When using Torrent: A VPN would make it much harder for your ISP to see you are the one downloading torrents. As using a VPN hides your actual IP address and provides you with an anonymous IP address.
