SaferVPN Setup on Kindle Fire

Introduction

To setup SaferVPN on your Kindle Fire Stick, please follow our step by step guide provided below.
You can either chose to set SaferVPN up with a PPTP or L2TP protocol.

A. Setup Guide

  1. From the status bar tap on the Wireless icon. 

  2. Tap VPN in the Wireless Settings.



  3. Now tap on Add a VPN profile.



B. PPTP connection setup for your Kindle Fire device

To create a PPTP-based VPN connection follow these steps:

  • Name: This can be anything you like, this is just the name of the connection E.g., USA or USA PPTP or anything that fits your choice.
  • Type: PPTP
  • Server Address: This needs to be a server IP or hostname from one of SaferVPN servers. Please refer How to find SaferVPN Server IP
  • PPP Encryption (MPPE): Activated




Once you have verified all the input values, tap Save.

C. L2TP connection setup for your Kindle Fire device

To create an L2TP based VPN connection follow these steps:

  • Name: This can be anything you like, this is just the name of the connection E.g., USA or USA L2TP or anything that fits your choice.
  • Type: L2TP/IPSec PSK
  • Server Address: This needs to be a server IP or hostname from one of SaferVPN servers. Please refer How to find SaferVPN Server IP
  • L2TP secret: Leave it blank 
  • IPSec identifier: Leave it blank
  • IPSec pre-shared key: Enter “SaferVPN2013” as the pre-shared key.




Once you have verified all the input values, tap Save.

D. Connecting to the VPN

  1. In the VPN menu under the Wireless Settings option, you will now be able to access the newly created VPN connection.



  2. Login to your SaferVPN account using the SaferVPN username and L2TP/PPTP SaferVPN account password.



  3. Once the connection has been established, you will see the status "Connected" right below the connection name.



  4. You will now see the connection status Active in the status bar.
