What is SaferVPN’s NAT Firewall security feature?

Updated on: 2017-02-19 10:50:16 UTC

Introduction

Network Address Translation (NAT) Firewall is the security feature that is added with SaferVPN.

This feature helps in blocking all the unrequested inbound traffic when you're connected to SaferVPN. It doesn’t require any additional configuration or software as it runs on SaferVPN servers.

NAT Firewall protects any device connected to SaferVPN.

A. Why do I need a NAT Firewall?

NAT Firewall is important especially when you are connected to the Internet with a Wireless Router.

These routers use NAT to share your Internet connection with multiple devices on a network.
When a wireless router receives an unrequested inbound scan, it doesn't know which device should receive it, so the scan is rejected.

However, SaferVPN's tunnel protects your wireless router, giving you a dedicated connection to the Internet. With SaferVPN your private IP address is hidden under only one public IP address.

Since your SaferVPN connection isn't shared, unrequested inbound scans are no longer rejected.
NAT Firewall protects you from these scans when you connect with SaferVPN.

B. Advantages of SaferVPN’s NAT Firewall

SaferVPN provides multiple advantages to its users with its NAT Firewalls security feature:

  1. NAT Firewall helps your device by protecting it from the unauthorized/unwanted traffics.
  2. NAT also adds safety to your device from the hackers by protecting your private/confidential data.
  3. Your IP address always stays protected from the cyber criminals with SaferVPN.
  4. NAT Firewall runs on the device that's connected to the Internet and hides the rest of your network from the public, thus making your whole network appear as one single device to the rest of the world.
  5. You can protect 3 devices with a single SaferVPN account.
